Over the last 5 years of Extreme Shot Italia, we have seen many shooters having a go to conquer the Sicilian hills and beyond.
This enabled us to identify some world class shooting, spotting and coaching. We know that flying to meet some of these individuals can be costly as well as a ‘lonely process’. We have tried it ourselves.

Rod has come together with these world class, match going instructors in order to formulate a 3-day, Match Prep training program bringing together some of the finest match-ready content from both sides of the Atlantic over a friendly and amazing setting using the same facility used for Extreme Shot Italia. Simple and effective match-winning formula.
While he normally prepares logistics for Extreme Shot Italia, this time, it is about creating a unique small gathering of discerning ELR shooters in a fantastic, high quality setting which Sicily offers.

Meet us on Monday 14 April in Trapani, Sicily. We depart Friday 18 April. The hotel will be booked from Monday to Friday Morning. Any additional nights you can settle directly with the hotel.

The hotel will be booked for these dates 14-18 April. We will stay in a high-quality country hotel where we will enjoy the company of the finest instructors as well as a niche of 10 like-minded participants.
Our preference is for Baglio Soria, one of the fine wine estates however this will depend on the availability they have at the time we can confirm 10+3 participants.
The range facility is located near some of the best entertainment facilities within 20min drive which enables the participants to also enjoy themselves after our shooting sessions in a fantastic atmosphere.

Paul Phillips (USA)
Paul Phillips is a 3-time World Champion shooting for Team USA in F class. He is also a 3 time KO2M winner, twice as a spotter and once as a shooter. He holds over 40 NRA National records and is currently ranked top ten in the world in both heavy and light class. Paul was awarded the international distinguished shooting medal and also a congressional recognition for a lifetime achievement from the house of representatives. Paul has helped several shooters get ranked in the top 100 in the world and place top 5 in ELR matches around the world.
We met Paul at ESI 2024 where he coached Drew Besonson as his spotter and they got to 2nd place at this coveted match never having shot here in Sicily before.
Roman Ochaba (France)
We first met Roman Ochaba at one of the earlier editions of Extreme Shot Italia.
He was one of the first French participants to come over with Francois Dreuil and Benoit Bigault, both very competitive French match shooters.
At one of the earlier editions Roman had teamed up with Steve Giannone. His meticulous and systematic approach to ELR caught our attention when he turned the tables around for Steve by getting him to the 3rd position. His understanding of when to fire the shot followed by numerous impacts in difficult wind conditions really told him apart from anyone else.
We had the opportunity to see him shoot and spot in France as well and we identified his talent in wind reading and mirage reading to be superior to anyone else we had met to date. We then travelled a few more times to France where we had the opportunity to get a clearer background.
Roman has a long military career in the French Foreign Legion. With various assignments around the globe, as well as a very keen and dedicated approach to competition shooting, his involvement provides a unique angle to spotting with a systematic approach. At ESI 2024 Roman was leading ahead in the finals after a great run on day 2 of the match with Chris Battison bringing him to the final round.
In the summer of 2024, Rod ran a 3-day training with Roman as a precursor to this course. It was evident in those 3 days that Roman could see things through a spotter that others cannot. His systematic plotting and wind calls make him one of the best in the world in our view. He managed to keep Rod on target at 1830m with an amazing group.
Chris Battison (Geneva, Switzerland)
Chris Battison is a recognized figure in the field of European long-range shooting. He is the founder of the Dynamic Evolution Shooting Academy, a professional academy based in Geneva, Switzerland since 2015 which offers long-range precision shooting courses suitable for all levels.
Rod met Chris through his attendance of ELR shooting in France as well as Sicily. Chris is a very dedicated ELR competitor with close connections to the French manufacturer PGM precision.

In addition to his role as an instructor, Chris Battison actively participates in international long-range shooting competitions. We saw him spot for Jay Dvorsky at ESI 2024 as well as for Roman Ochaba at Extreme Shot Italia IV. The duo did superbly well having also trained and shot together in France.
He also competed in the King & Prince of 1 Mile in 2021 in Caylus, France.
Chris is a technical long-range shooter whose preparation, attention to detail and calm composure helps match shooters achieve a higher level of readiness. Chris is often found training at these shooting grounds at Regimbal 1500m, Caylus 1580m, Canjuers 1800m as well as in the south of France where they practice to 2400m with the 338LM.
The course includes:
- Training class with 3 world class coaches
- Range fees for 3 days
- Hotel accommodation and breakfast from Monday afternoon to Friday morning (4 nights) in 4-star wine estate

We will provide you with an invitation letter. If you’re flying from EU countries you will also need your European firearm pass.
**Important note: The choice of hotel depends on availability at time of confirmation. The wine estate hotels are boutique hotels and may have limited availability of rooms. The choice of the hotel may vary but it will be a quality facility suitable for this purpose.

What’s required?
- Rifle and ammo (your rifle must shoot ½ MOA or better for this course)
- Quality scope with sufficient elevation to shoot out to 2000meters.
- Spotting Scope and quality tripod
- Rain Gear
- Shooting mat
- Ballistic solver and wind meter
- Your fun side and an open mind to learn new things
How will it roll?
The 3 days will involve groups split with the 3 different instructors in a rotation format in order to enable participants to grasp different methods and applications of the craft by different instructors.
It will also make the 3 days more interesting.
The course is meant for those with an existing solid foundation of ballistics, competition ammo and marksmanship.
You should be able to print a 3 shot group into a 1/2MOA group.
The spotting side of the course will enable you to bring that precision capability on target.
Remember that your ammo loading skills is a crucial aspect of this. You can fly with 5k of ammo with you in a separate locked container.
During the 3 days the instructors will delve into
- Your ELR competition rifle setup
- Your match ballistics and solvers
- ELR competition ammo
- Your communication as spotter/shooter for matches
- Wind reading techniques for competition
- Shooting under timed, match conditions
- Sharing of experiences and questions with professionals

We will shoot on the same terrain of Extreme Shot Italia Match from 500- 1700m.
On the last day we will move to the final distance of 2000m.
Those attending should stay on the same accommodation with the other shooters so as to spend time with like-minded shooters.
